A written application was submitted to the Hillsborough County Historical Advisory Council during the summer of 2017. Clarence Fort and Former Florida Senator Arthenia Joyner and I addressed members of the council on September 25, 2017 and the application to have an historical marker erected near the site of Tampa’s former F.W. Woolworth store is currently under review. The HCHAC mission is to support and facilitate a uniform historical marker program throughout the county including the cities of Tampa, Plant City and Temple Terrace.

If approved the cost of a double sided county marker with the same text on the front and back is $2,340. There are additional costs to include the names of the protestors as well as a photograph of Clarence Fort. The HCHAC says matching grants may be available too.
